Amanda Martin is a dancer, choreographer and veteran Pilates teacher returning to the Deep South from New York City.
She is certified in Pilates through the Kane School of Core Integration (NYC) which offers a unique approach to realignment through proper biomechanics and manual touch. Her teaching offers clients an opportunity to explore their movement habits and restore balance.
She is also certified in GYROKINESIS® instruction. Through these two methods, her teaching philosophy pulls from her diverse dance and fitness backgrounds to provide an educational and creative movement experience.
Her thriving Athens and Atlanta Pilates classes have made a name for themselves for their warmth and sense of community. By crossing the boundaries of fitness and rehabilitation, she speaks to the needs of a diverse clientele of women and men, young and old, athlete and those living with osteoporosis.
I was first introduced to Pilates while studying dance at Florida State University. My professor Tom Welsh taught us a “Conditioning” class based on the Pilates Method and he was the first person to get me on a Reformer when I needed help treating bilateral calf strains. I owe a big thank you to Tom for planting the seed!
With whom you’ve study is just as imperative to life-long learning as what you’ve studied. Kelly Kane, Madeline Black, Kuan Hui Chew and Jennifer Milner have had a tremendous impact on my career—not just with what I teach, but how I teach it.
Visit my Resources page to learn more about these amazing women, as the special things I do that set my classes apart from the typical Pilates class can be traced back to their individual influences.
